Earth Hour 2012

On Saturday 31st March at 8.30pm it's time to turn your lights off for one hour for Earth Hour. Hundreds of millions of people, businesses and governments around the world unite each year to support the largest environmental event in history – Earth Hour. More than 5,200 cities and towns in 135 countries worldwide switched off their lights for Earth Hour 2011 alone, sending a powerful message for action on climate change and sustainability. It also ushered in a new era with members going Beyond the Hour to commit to lasting action for the planet. Without a doubt, it’s shown how great things can be achieved when people come together for a common cause. Get involved and turn your lights off!! http://www.earthhour.org//page/fun-stuff/kids-game

Room 16 Ipads!

Room 16 are lucky enough to have 5 iPads in our class this term.  We are very excited about this.  I like the new ipads because they have lot of games and we can learn in a fun ways.  When its reading and maths one group gets to go on it, then the next day the other group gets to go on.

We made up some rules about the iPads.  Here they are:

Here are the things we already knew about iPads and here is what we want to find out.

Here are some of the apps we use to help with our learning.

Have do you know of any apps that would be good fur to use?

Room 7 Buddy Reading

Room 16 has been buddy reading with Room 7 this year. Room 7 are a Year 1 class and we are helping them learn to read.  We have only been reading with them for a few weeks and they are already getting smarter and smarter and smarter and smarter. Now when we go there, when we ask them to read, they read very well.  There is a boy that when QO first started reading with him he didn't want to read but now he is reading half a book, which is great.  They are so smart that we don't need to read for them now!!!  Buddy reading is cool because we get to help other kids learn and it helps us learn how to be a teacher (and QO says we get to miss out work).

zero waste school

Yesterday room 16 had a tour to the worm farm and compost bin.
Our goal is to be a zero waste school because we want a tidy school.
Always REUSE, REDUCE, RECYCLE.
When we have yoghurt containers we - Wash it ,  Squash it,   Put it in the bin.

I know I will be success when I:

Jump jam crazy

JUMP JAM is a great and exciting exercise to do in the morning on Friday.  We do loads of dancing to  warm up for the day.  Jump jam has loads of different dancing songs. When we're finished we do a little bit of yoga.

I like JUMP JAM because it is really fun!
